Privacy Policy
AI Limit Notifier is published by Eunjeong Song ("the developer"), who is responsible for the data handling this policy describes: in the extension and in its contact form.
In short
- The extension runs locally in Chrome. There is no developer-operated backend, advertising, or separate account system.
- It reads ChatGPT and Claude usage limits and reset times. Only after you click Continue conversation can it send a short continue message to a recent conversation.
- The developer receives no data from the extension, and no data is sold or shared for advertising. Conversation history is not read.
Data the extension keeps on your device
- Usage data: usage percentages, reset times, service state, and the last successful result, in
chrome.storage.local, so a failed check can show a labeled last-known value. - Settings and alert state: your settings, and which resets and warnings were already announced, in
chrome.storage.local. - ChatGPT account scope: ChatGPT returns a short-lived access token, which is used in memory for the usage request and never stored. When available, the account/workspace ID is reduced to a one-way SHA-256 fingerprint so state from one account never carries into another. The raw account/workspace ID is not stored.
- Claude organization: with several organizations, their names are shown only while you choose one. Only the organization ID in use and one-way SHA-256 fingerprints that keep organizations apart can be stored.
- Continue target: to recognize the conversation you were using, the extension reads the address and title of ChatGPT and Claude tabs, and of no other site. For each enabled service,
chrome.storage.sessioncan hold one recent target: normalized conversation URL, conversation ID, tab and window IDs, view and last-seen times, whether it is currently in view, and which of its conversations Chrome restored at start-up. A shortened title is added only when a reached limit captures that target.
The shortened title can appear in the popup, to check the target. It is not displayed in the operating-system reset notification, which may appear on a lock screen or during screen sharing.
What leaves your device
- Requests to ChatGPT and Claude: for services you turn on and allow, Chrome sends the extension's requests directly to chatgpt.com and claude.ai with your existing signed-in session. OpenAI and Anthropic receive them as when you visit their sites and handle them under their own privacy policies.
- Continue conversation: only after your click, a one-time script in that conversation's tab confirms the exact conversation, keeps any draft, types the chosen continue word only into an empty message box, sends it, and confirms it was sent. Composer text is never stored or sent anywhere else.
- Nothing else: nothing goes to the developer or any advertising or other service. No remotely hosted code runs, and Chrome's
cookiespermission is not requested.
Notifications and device activity
The extension notifies you when a fresh check confirms a reached limit has reset. Optional settings add a 90% warning and model-limit reset alerts. A Continue click is followed by a short result notice when needed, and you can send a test notification.
Chrome's idle API only times checks and ends in-view status while you are away: the regular 5-minute check pauses while the computer is idle or locked, with one check when that starts and one when you are back. Checks tied to a limit continue: at its reset, and every 15 minutes while it is nearly used up, rising, or reached with no known reset (hourly after 3 hours). Active, idle, or locked state is not stored or transmitted.
Permissions
storage: the data described above.alarms: timed checks, badge countdown updates, and removal of expired Continue data.notifications: the notifications described above.scripting: the one-time Continue script, only after your click.idle: as described above.https://chatgpt.com/*andhttps://claude.ai/*: optional, requested only for services you turn on, and removed when you turn a service off.
Retention and deletion
Data in chrome.storage.local stays until it is replaced, you turn that service off, or you remove the extension. Continue data is session-only: Chrome deletes it when the browser closes, and the extension deletes it once it is used, expires, or is no longer eligible. Turning a service off deletes its data and gives back its site access. The developer cannot see or delete this data: it never leaves your device.
Contact form
The contact form is provided by Tally BV (Belgium), which processes what you submit on the developer's behalf and stores it in the European Union. The developer uses it only to answer you (a legitimate interest) and deletes it once it is no longer needed for that. Please leave out conversation content and account details. Through the same form you may ask to access, correct, or delete your message or object to its use, and you may complain to a data protection authority.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
AI Limit Notifier adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User data is used only to provide the extension's single purpose. It is not sold, is transferred only to ChatGPT or Claude as described above, and is not used for advertising, creditworthiness, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.
